Here’s to Planning

I don’t plan dinner before noon. Yes, noon of the same day I will make dinner. Actually noon would be categorized as “advanced planning.”

I am killer at pinterest searching from the entry way of Whole Foods, actually.

“What are we having now” is my approach to pretty much every meal.

But things are going to have to change around here. Faye is going to be spending a few hours three days a week being watched over by someone other than me. This is ridiculously amazing for my life, our life, our family, Faye’s social life – it’s just good. I will talk more about it in another post but the time lets me take another class towards the masters-that-never-ends and guarantees that I will get to eat lunch at least three days a week.

So far it sounds like this makes it easier for me to get to the store everyday but really, no. The nanny-share we are in is in Chiswick and we live in Kensington. It’s not far necessarily but it’s not close. Two buses from our front door. No big deal but not conducive to grocery toting. So I am going to try to plan.

Here are four things I am thinking I might try to put on a list if I get around to it next week…that’s planning right?



1) Autumn Chowder: This is a Hency Family staple and I can eat it for dinner multiple nights in a row without complaining.

2) Peach and Pecan Brown Sugar Parfait: Maybe with something other than peaches since it’s February.

3) Pineapple, Apple and Zucchini Slaw with Honey Mustard: Add chicken and call it dinner.

4) Gruyere, Fig Jam and Arugula Breakfast Sandwiches: I’ve been making Mat and myself a hot breakfast every morning and this sounds like a great way to wake up to me.
